At last, a games console for me!
I’ve never had much use for a games console, other than a once-in-a-blue-moon session of “silly monkey games” on the PS2, which is always a giggle. However, I’ve always been impressed with the Nintendo Wii, especially after spending a while playing on one on Boxing Day. Thanks again for that afternoon, Chris & Rita, it was great. Ten-pin bowling in the house! Enormous fun. And surprisingly true-to-life. Nintendo ducked out of the brute-force performance race between Microsoft’s XBox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3, and decided to instead focus on the user interface and offer something different. A gamble, certainly, but it paid off with a playing experience so natural and immersive that nobody noticed the relatively poor graphics subsystem.
Nintendo have now taken it a step further with the Wii Fit. I’m feeling too lazy to explain, so head over to http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=81819 where somebody has already done the hard work. Suffice to say that when this hits the UK shops in April, I’ll be buying a Wii. Bowling alone wasn’t enough for me to fork over the cash, but this looks like a load of fun.
